Melissa Macchia began her career as a teacher in 1993 after graduating from Auburn University with a degree in early childhood education. She chose an early childhood degree because of her firm belief that all children begin life with a love for learning that must be fostered and encouraged for it not to be lost. She would spend the next twenty-one years in various elementary classrooms providing the kind of joyful education that creates successful and happy students who love to learn. During this time she was awarded Class Act Teacher for the city of Montgomery as well as Teacher of the Year for the state of Alabama.
A move to Utah in 2014 brought her to Leadership Learning Academy as a classroom teacher. An invitation from the lead director to move into an administrative role resulted in Mrs. Macchia transitioning to a career as an instructional coach. For eight happy years she worked with teachers at LLA to help them gain the knowledge and skills needed to become the best educators they could be.
Since 2023 she has been principal at LLA where she continues to bring the joy of learning to her students. She also believes in the power of the core values in our Flyer Creed for bringing out the best in every child. She sees the school as being partners with families in the education of their children and welcomes the daily opportunity she’s been given to serve our Flyer Community.
